Free browser-based PDF and image tools that process files locally on your device without uploading them to servers, plus upcoming offline AI desktop
The story so far
Homepage of LimeBite
LimeBite provides free online tools for working with PDFs, images, colours and timestamps, all processed locally in your browser so files never leave your device. Current tools include merging and splitting PDFs, compressing images, removing backgrounds, picking colours with hex/RGB conversion, and converting Unix timestamps. The service requires no sign-up and no account.
Coming in November 2026, LimeBite will launch desktop applications—LimePDF, LimeWord, LimeSheet (15 November) and LimeIDE (20 November)—that bring offline AI features to your computer. These desktop apps will offer AI capabilities like PDF summarization, writing assistance, formula suggestions and code completion, all running locally on your device without connecting to the cloud.
LimeBite is built on the principle that your files are yours and should never leave your device. The service is funded by advertising on the web tools, and an ads-supported free tier is planned for the desktop apps alongside paid options to be announced at launch.

No. The tools process files in your browser. The page loads the code once, then your file is read from your disk into the page's memory and the result is offered back as a download. You can check this yourself by loading a tool, switching off Wi-Fi and running it.
Is there a file size limit?
Limits depend on your device memory; very large files may be slow. As a rough guide, files of a few tens of megabytes are comfortable on most laptops. Phones and older computers may struggle with files of hundreds of megabytes.
Which browsers work?
Recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. JavaScript must be enabled, because it is what lets the tools work on your device instead of on a server.
Do I need an account?
No. Every web tool works without signing in. Registering is optional and not needed to use any web tool.
When can I get LimeWord and LimeSheet?
15 November 2026, alongside LimePDF. LimeIDE follows on 20 November 2026. Installers will appear on the Download page when they ship.
