The story so far
Homepage of VoltReflex
VoltReflex is a free, browser-based reaction time testing tool designed to measure your visual reflex speed in milliseconds with no account, software download, or fee. The test is simple: when the screen turns green, click or tap as fast as you can, and the tool records your time using high-resolution browser performance timing. You can run sessions of 5, 10, or 20 rounds to get a statistically reliable average, and see your percentile ranking compared to human benchmarks across age groups, professions, and skill levels. Results can be shared on Facebook, X (Twitter), or Discord. The tool runs entirely in your browser, with no personal data collected or stored on servers, and works on mobile, tablet, laptop, or desktop devices. VoltReflex is built for gamers tracking training improvements, athletes monitoring reflex speed, students and researchers studying cognitive performance, and anyone curious about how their reflexes compare to the average person.

Under 200 ms is considered excellent and puts you in roughly the top 10%. Under 150 ms is exceptional. The average healthy adult scores between 200–250 ms. Anything above 350 ms may indicate fatigue, distraction, or simply that your reflexes haven't been trained recently.
Does VoltReflex work on mobile?
Yes, VoltReflex is fully responsive and works on any device with a modern browser. On touchscreens, tap the box instead of clicking. Touchscreens add approximately 10–20 ms of additional input latency compared to a wired mouse, so mobile scores may appear slightly slower for the same person.
Does VoltReflex save my scores?
No, VoltReflex does not save scores. Your reaction time scores exist only in your browser's memory during your session and are not transmitted to or stored on the servers. When you refresh the page or close the tab, your results are cleared. VoltReflex does not track individual user scores.
What is the average human reaction time?
Approximately 200–250 ms for a visual stimulus. Auditory reactions are slightly faster at 150–170 ms.
How accurate is VoltReflex?
VoltReflex uses performance.now() for sub-millisecond timer precision. The main variance is your monitor's refresh rate — up to ±16 ms at 60 Hz.
