The story so far

VocalCode is a push-to-talk voice input app for developers who work with AI coding agents. Hold a configured key or mouse button, speak, and release—VocalCode recognizes speech on your computer and inserts the resulting text into the active field in most desktop applications, without switching windows or copying from a dictation box.

Speech recognition runs entirely on your own machine. Audio is decoded on your computer's CPU, and no audio or transcripts are uploaded to servers. The app works offline after the initial model download and supports 29 languages across four on-device models: Parakeet for 25 European languages, Paraformer for Mandarin Chinese and English, SenseVoice for Korean and Japanese, and Qwen3-ASR for Hindi.

VocalCode is completely free and open source under AGPL-3.0-only. No payment, account, or activation is required. It runs on Windows 10/11 (64-bit) and macOS 11+ on Apple Silicon, and the full source code is publicly available on GitHub.
