RestoreCtl automatically verifies that your database backups can be recovered by running restore drills in isolated sandboxes and generating signed audit

RestoreCtl is a CLI tool that proves database backups actually work by automatically running restore drills. Instead of assuming recovery will succeed, RestoreCtl continuously restores your latest backup into an isolated environment within your own infrastructure, measures real recovery time, and validates data integrity through cryptographic verification.
The tool measures recovery time precisely, validates that restored data matches the original through SHA-256 fingerprinting, and generates signed, audit-ready PDF and JSON reports. Every drill runs automatically on a schedule you set, with zero manual effort required from your team.
Currently supporting PostgreSQL with MySQL and others coming soon, RestoreCtl runs as a CLI with no agents, daemons, or cloud dashboards. Backups never leave your infrastructure, and ephemeral sandboxes are created and destroyed for each restore, leaving no residual data.

RestoreCtl computes SHA-256 hashes row-by-row across every table in the restored backup and compares the result against the original snapshot fingerprint. This cryptographic validation ensures the restored data matches the original backup exactly.
No. RestoreCtl is a CLI that runs entirely within your VPC. Backups stay in your perimeter, sandboxes are created and destroyed within your own infrastructure, and there is no cloud dashboard, telemetry, or metadata transmission. Your S3 CloudTrail logs are the only audit trail.
RestoreCtl currently supports PostgreSQL. MySQL and other databases are coming soon.
