An AI-native code editor where agents plan, build, test and review code changes across your repository, with AstraOne choosing the optimal model for each task.
The story so far
Homepage of AstraCode
AstraCode is an AI-native code editor whose agents plan, implement, test and review their own work. When you describe a change in plain language, the editor finds the relevant files, plans the edit, makes it and runs your tests, delivering a diff for you to review rather than a wall of chat.
Every edit arrives as hunks you accept one at a time, with a checkpoint before every turn so any run can be undone completely. AstraOne chooses the model for each task and brings in a stronger model automatically if tests fail, so you get finished changes instead of half-finished ones.
The agent runs on your machine in your checkout, never copying your code elsewhere. It supports Model Context Protocol servers, works across your repository, and can handle bigger autonomous tasks through plan mode, where multiple agents run in parallel on different steps.
Typeset features
Agents plan, build, test and review code changes
AstraOne automatically chooses the optimal model for each task
Yes. On first launch, AstraCode brings your extensions, keybindings and settings from your current editor, and only fills in blanks so your existing choices remain unchanged. You can skip it or run it again later from Settings, and editor updates reach you on the normal schedule.
How is AstraCode different from Cursor and GitHub Copilot?
AstraCode is an AI-native coding environment whose agents plan, implement, test and review their own work by running your tests and handing you a diff. AstraOne chooses the model for every task and brings in a stronger one when a check fails, so there is no model list to manage. The same agent runs in your terminal, your CI, your pull requests and inside JetBrains IDEs and Zed.
Can AstraCode take on bigger, autonomous tasks?
Yes. Plan mode allows you to agree on the approach and hand each step to an agent of its own. Several agents run in parallel, each in its own git worktree. /goal keeps working in rounds until a goal is met on evidence, /loop re-runs a prompt on a schedule, and the CLI automates the same agent from scripts and CI.
Does my code get uploaded anywhere?
No. The agent runs in your checkout on your machine using the tools you already have. What leaves is only the part of a file needed to answer your request, and nothing is copied to a build environment to be worked on separately.
What happens when I run out of allowance?
Requests stop and nothing is charged. Going past your allowance requires two deliberate acts: switching overage on and having a card on file. Until you do both, an agent left running overnight cannot cost you a penny.
