What does a rendered map require from the gateway?
A rendered map requires three things: vector tiles containing the map data, a style document that specifies how to draw them, and the fonts and icons that the style references. The unmap SDK handles fetching all three automatically.
What geographic coverage does unmap provide?
The default vector basemap covers the world at Web Mercator zooms 0-14. Terrain relief is worldwide from global release 6, while contours remain Canada-scoped. A retained Canada archive is available as a rollback option.
How is usage metered and billed?
Every API request is one call, regardless of endpoint or status. A first map paint typically requires about 40 tile requests plus the style document, but MapLibre and browsers cache most of them afterward. All calls draw from one pooled meter with no per-product allowances to plan around.
What is included in every tier?
Every tier includes permissive caching at no surcharge, no surprise overage with spend caps on by default, no visitor tracking or fingerprinting, and one consolidated bill for all products and add-ons with no per-product contracts to negotiate.
Can styles be customized with 3D terrain and themes?
Yes. Any style can be drawn on 3D terrain with adjustable exaggeration from 0.1 to 5. A custom theme builder allows you to change colors and other properties independently of the base style, with themes available in short codes or longer base64-encoded documents.
