The Hexagrams is an online I Ching divination platform that lets users cast hexagrams using traditional three-coin methods and receive AI-generated readings. Users formulate a specific question, shake a virtual tube for six coin tosses to build a hexagram, and receive a line-by-line interpretation.
The platform also offers BaZi (Eight Characters), a Chinese birth chart system based on birth date, time, and place. The BaZi report includes analysis of the four pillars, day master, ten gods, wealth and work prospects, love and partnership indicators, family relationships, and a month-by-month forecast for the coming year.
All casting and basic chart generation are free. Paid readings unlock deeper interpretations: $4.99 for a single I Ching deep reading or one BaZi chart section, or $29.99 for complete BaZi All Access covering all seven sections and the twelve-month axis. No subscriptions; all purchases are one-time.

BaZi, meaning "eight characters", is the Chinese system of analyzing a life from its birth moment. Your birth date, time, and place convert into four pillars, each containing two characters—eight in total. These carry the five elements in different relationships, creating a profile of your life blueprint. The report shows your day master (the character representing you), ten gods (how other elements relate to you), wealth and work prospects, love and partnership indicators, family relationships, and a month-by-month forecast for the year ahead.
Is this a real I Ching reading or just a random generator?
Yes, it is a real I Ching reading following the traditional three-coin oracle method. The coin toss uses the same randomness as flipping three physical coins, which is the divination itself. You formulate one specific question, shake the coins six times watching each line build, and only then read the judgment. This follows centuries of classical practice rather than simply printing a random hexagram.
Do I need to believe in I Ching for it to work?
No. The hexagrams function as a structured reflection tool regardless of belief. The process of formulating one specific question, performing a ritual, and encountering specific text creates a focused lens for examining your situation. Many skeptics find value in the framework it provides for thinking through complex personal decisions.
Can I get a refund if I'm not satisfied?
Yes. You can get a refund within 14 days if the reading failed to generate, was garbled, does not match your cast due to a fault on the site's side, or if you changed your mind before generation started. However, a reading that generated successfully and matches your cast is not refundable just because you dislike the answer.
How do I cast a hexagram online?
Tap the cup and it shakes — six tosses of three coins, one line per toss, building your hexagram exactly as you would with real coins at a table. Heads counts as 3, tails as 2, so each toss gives 6, 7, 8 or 9. The whole cast takes about a minute, and no account is needed.
