Questions and answers

How does SurfPal track browsing time?

SurfPal listens in the background for browser user interaction events including tab creation, removal, update, and activation events, as well as browser window focus and blur events. It calculates browsing duration precisely based on when these events occur and stores the data in the database at domain granularity.

What is the intent check feature?

Intent check adds a brief pause of a few seconds between wanting to open a website and actually entering it. This interrupts the automatic habit loop of seeing a cue, feeling an impulse, and clicking immediately, giving you a chance to become aware and decide if the visit is truly necessary.

How does domain hierarchy work in SurfPal?

SurfPal organizes websites by domain hierarchy. When you select a domain like google.com, it includes all subdomains like drive.google.com and docs.google.com, and their browsing times are added together. You can use the @. prefix to exclude subdomains if needed.

Can SurfPal sync data across multiple devices?

Yes, SurfPal can synchronize data to Google Drive for backup and multi-device access. Once enabled, SurfPal uploads data every 10 minutes and downloads data for restoration when needed, supporting consistent data across multiple devices or browser profiles.

Are payments refundable?

No, payments for digital licenses and paid features are non-refundable after the license has been delivered or activated, unless otherwise required by applicable law or expressly stated at the time of purchase.
