ReedSCAN is a barcode and QR code scanner SDK for web applications. It reads codes directly from the camera using JavaScript in the browser, supporting Android, iPhone, iPad and computers across Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox and Samsung Internet.
The scanner runs entirely on the device with no server calls, keeping camera pictures and scanned values private. It works offline, with decoding happening on the device and license key validation in the browser. The product includes features like outline boxes that follow codes as the phone moves, smooth performance on older devices through background workers, and the ability to read multiple codes at once from shelves or pallets without repeats.
Developers can install the package via npm and integrate it with plain JavaScript, React, Vue or Angular. Build and test mode is free with no license key, while production use requires a domain-specific license key that removes the 60-second scanning limit and watermark.

Which barcodes does it read?
QR Code, Data Matrix, Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8, UPC-E, PDF417, Aztec, Code 39, Code 93, Codabar and ITF. You can pick the ones you need as fewer types means faster scanning.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Decoding happens on the device and the license key is checked in the browser. For sites with no internet access, you can serve the decoder file from your own server.
Are camera pictures sent anywhere?
No. Pictures and scanned values stay on the device. ReedSCAN doesn't call a server while it scans.
Is it free?
You can build and test with it free, with no key. Production use needs a license key for your domains. Without one, scanning stops after 60 seconds per page load.
