What is PDF imposition?
PDF imposition arranges single pages onto larger press sheets in the order and position a printer needs — for booklets, n-up cards, labels and more — so the finished, folded or cut product comes out correct.

Arrange PDF pages into print-ready layouts like booklets, n-up grids, and gang sheets with production marks and prepress details, all in your browser.
The story so far
PDFPress is a browser-based imposition tool that arranges PDF pages into print-ready layouts for booklets, n-up grids, step-and-repeat, cut-and-stack, posters, and gang sheets. It handles production details automatically, including crop marks, registration marks, bleed compensation, and creep adjustment for saddle-stitched booklets.
The tool processes all files locally in your browser without uploading documents to servers. It offers a live preview that updates as you edit, with adjustable settings for page size, margins, gutters, and marks. PDFPress includes additional prepress capabilities such as adding headers, footers, watermarks, resizing, rotating, cropping, merging, and splitting PDFs.
The service is designed for print shops, production teams, designers, publishers, and anyone preparing files for commercial or digital printing. It requires no installation and runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Chromebooks. A free tier provides 5 downloads with 8-hour cooldowns, while a Pro subscription offers unlimited downloads and access to all tools.

Questions and answers
Is PDFPress an imposition program?
Yes. PDFPress is a browser-based imposition program — the same job as a desktop imposition application, but with nothing to install. It runs in any browser on Windows, macOS, Linux and Chromebooks, imposes booklets, n-up sheets and cut-and-stack layouts with a live preview, and processes your files locally. There is a free tier, so you can use it as a free online imposition program for everyday booklet and card work.
Can I impose a PDF online for free?
Yes. PDFPress includes 5 free downloads total, with at least 8 hours between free downloads. Sign in with Google to export booklet, n-up and label layouts. Files are processed locally; see pricing for current paid plans.
Can I use PDFPress for PDF imposition for prepress?
Yes. PDFPress is browser-based PDF imposition software for prepress — impose booklets, n-up sheets, gang sheets and cut-and-stack layouts, add crop, cutter and registration marks and bleed, run preflight checks, and export a press-ready PDF for a digital or offset printing press. Everything is processed locally in your browser, so files are never uploaded.
What is the difference between imposition and prepress?
Prepress is the whole process of preparing a file for printing — preflight, color, bleed and imposition. Imposition is one prepress step: arranging the pages onto press sheets in the right position and order so the printed sheet folds or cuts into the finished product.
