A desktop app for macOS that reminds you to take breaks with a wilting plant in the corner of your screen, offering AI-written exercises tailored to your needs.

Mossy is a break reminder for macOS that sits quietly in the corner of your screen. A small plant wilts as you work, then offers you a short break with an exercise tailored to what bothers you—back pain, eye strain, wrist aches, or mobility issues. You tell it what you need in one sentence, and an AI writes a stretch or movement for each break.
The app never blocks your screen, locks it, or dims it. You can ignore the notification entirely. It detects when you're in a meeting or screen sharing and stays silent. You choose how often it reminds you (every 30 minutes, hour, or two hours) and how long each break lasts (1, 2, 3, or 5 minutes), with a timer that counts effort and rest. The app is free, requires no account, has no tracker, weighs just 1.8 MB, and asks for no permissions beyond checking when you last used your keyboard.

No. If your microphone is live or something is playing, Mossy holds the message and waits until you hang up. You can also hide it entirely for a screen share while the counter keeps running.
Only your sentence and the last three replies you gave it after a break are sent to the AI to write one exercise. The server keeps none of it. An anonymous sign of life is sent at first launch and then daily (which can be turned off), but there is no account, tracker, or cookie.
You can choose to be reminded every 30 minutes, every hour, or every two hours, with breaks lasting 1, 2, 3, or 5 minutes. A timer runs during each break with sounds marking the switches between effort and rest.
Yes, it is completely free with no paid tier waiting behind it. The app was built because the creators had their own back problems.
