The story so far

Screenshot of the DBine homepage
Homepage of DBine

DBine is a free desktop database manager that connects to 130 database engines and services from a single app, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Snowflake, Redis and many more. It provides unified tools for querying, designing, comparing, migrating and monitoring databases without switching applications.

The platform offers comprehensive features for database administrators and developers: a live profiler for monitoring queries in real-time, server performance monitoring with CPU and memory metrics, schema and data comparison tools, migration capabilities between different database engines, and visual execution plans. Additional productivity features include an AI assistant for query writing, MCP server support for use with other AI tools, a script library for saving and organizing common queries, and the ability to import connections from other tools like DBeaver and SSMS.

DBine prioritizes security and privacy with passwords stored in the system keychain rather than files, end-to-end encryption for synced settings, and the option to mark connections as truly read-only. The application runs natively on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and includes SSH tunnel support for accessing databases in private networks.

Questions and answers

What is DBine?

DBine is a free desktop database manager for Windows, macOS and Linux that connects to 130 engines and services including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis, Snowflake and Elasticsearch, providing the same explorer, editor and tools across all of them.

Is DBine free?

Yes, DBine is free with every feature included and will remain free. Users can optionally support the project through GitHub Sponsors.

Which databases does DBine support?

DBine supports 130 engines and services across relational, analytical, document, key-value, graph, time series, search and streaming categories. Each engine has its own driver so vendor client tools do not need to be installed.

Is DBine an alternative to DBeaver or SSMS?

Yes. Besides everyday work like queries and editing, DBine includes tools that usually need a second app or paid edition such as a live profiler, server monitor, schema and data compare, migration between engines and backups. It runs natively on macOS and Linux where SSMS does not.

Do my data or passwords leave my computer?

No. Connections, queries and results stay on the device, passwords go into the system keychain, and DBine connects directly to servers. Anonymous usage data never includes servers, queries or results and can be disabled.
