Claude Monitor is a free, open-source browser extension that tracks Claude usage limits live in your toolbar. It shows your 5-hour session window, weekly limit shared across all models, per-model weekly caps, extra usage credits, and Claude Code routine runs, each with a countdown to reset. An optional bar displays limits right above the Claude.ai chat box, works on the Free plan, and provides desktop notifications at 80% and 95% usage. The extension requires no account, performs no tracking or analytics, and stores all data locally in your browser.

On paid plans Claude shows them at claude.ai/settings/usage. This extension keeps them in view instead: a color-coded badge in your toolbar, the full breakdown (session, weekly, per-model caps, credits, routine runs) one click away, and an optional bar above the chat box. It refreshes on its own.
Not on claude.ai: since August 2026 its usage page shows nothing for Free accounts. The limits still come back with every reply, though. Turn on this extension's usage bar and it reads them each time you send a message, so the popup, the badge and the alerts work on Free too.

Claude meters usage in a rolling 5-hour session window that starts with your first message. The extension shows how much of the current window you have used and counts down to the exact reset, so a cutoff never lands mid-conversation.
No. By default its code makes read-only requests to five claude.ai usage paths. The optional bar, if you turn it on, scans each reply only for the usage figures attached to it. Your prompts and Claude's replies are never stored or sent, and your projects and files are never kept or sent anywhere.
